ABOUT DIANA
Dress by me at The Broad Museum / Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors Show
All I want to do when I wake up is create, design, draw, paint, sew, or craft. For as long as I can remember, that is the only thing that always makes me happy!
Ever since I was 2 years old all I needed was a drawing utensil and a canvas, whether it was the walls of my grandmother's home or a sheet of paper.
...I could draw before I could crawl.
Growing up, we didn't have a lot, when I turned 11 I finally got my first real Barbie (Soccer Kira). I was so excited I couldn't stop knitting and sewing clothes for her. When I was 13 (thanks to the good ole' dial up modem internet) I discovered the world of JRock, Anime and Cosplay. I made my first costume by hand with the help of my mother and attended my first anime convention and won best craftsmanship in the costume contest when I was 14 years old.
80 costumes later, I decided to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles (I think it's safe to say I found my calling in costume and fashion design.)
I began my professional career at a contemporary design company as an assistant designer in 2004. In 2005 I began to work as a designer for a small junior fashion company. Years later I entered the world of licensed children's apparel design which introduced me to the world of licensing and lead me to my current job as a design manager at a global consumer products brand with a focus in soft lines. Throughout my career I have also freelanced as a fashion illustrator, pattern maker, stylist, seamstress and designer for stage costumes.
Although I am busy and passionate in my full time professional career, I still can't seem to stop wanting to create and collaborate even during my free time! I still love finding time to make costumes or dressing up, whether it's for conventions, parties, or special events.
Every moment should be celebrated and matched with the perfect outfit.
